Samsung last time launched the phone in line Galaxy Note in 2020, when it released the Galaxy Note 20 series. Since then, Samsung has yet to launch a Galaxy Note phone and there has been speculation that the phablet line was shutting down.

Previously, several Samsung officials said that the Galaxy S Ultra would be the spiritual successor of the Galaxy Note. Now the boss of the mobile division of Samsung TM Roh seems to have confirmed the death of the Galaxy Note line.

In his post on Twitter, tipster Ice Universe translated an excerpt from an interview with TM Roh. In the quote, Roh says the legacy of the Galaxy Note will continue under the banner of the Galaxy S Ultra.

“Starting this year, the Galaxy Note will be available in the form of S Ultra every year,” said Roh, as quoted from Tom’s Guide, Friday (1/7/2022).

Technically, the truth of Roh’s statement is still a question mark because neither he nor Samsung has given any official statement directly to the media. But looking at the source and the photo of Roh in the tweet, it looks like the quote is true.

Galaxy Note used to be a line of productivity phones launched by Samsung. This line of phones immediately gained a lot of fans thanks to its premium features, from large high-end screens to the presence of the S Pen stylus.

But after launching the Galaxy S21 Ultra which is equipped with S Pen support, the future of the Galaxy Note is immediately questioned. Sure enough, Samsung didn’t launch a successor to the Galaxy Note 20 in 2021.

A year later, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with a design that looks more like the Galaxy Note thanks to a special slot to store the S Pen.
