The 53-year-old man was being prosecuted for repeated death threats against his ex and the unauthorized possession of a semi-automatic handgun found at his home in Neufchef with ammunition.
The procedure had been mentioned. The court found him guilty but he had pronounced a deferment of sentence. He had postponed his decision until June 28, thus giving the defendant time to “repair the damage caused”. In other words, to compensate the victim.

Criminally inaccessible
The man, described as violent, threatening, insulting by his ex-girlfriend in his complaint in 2019, has changed. And this has nothing to do with a posture. He suffered a stroke in the meantime. The sequelae are physical and cerebral. He is now under guardianship. An expert had examined him before his hearing and considers him inaccessible to a criminal sanction.
This did not prevent the defendant from being tried. This also did not prevent him from establishing his guilt at the time of the events. However, he complied with the obligation to compensate the victim for the damage suffered, as required by the court.
On Tuesday, the president finally issued a waiver from the sentence. Again, this is provided for by law.
