Belgian footballer Romelu Lukaku returned to Inter Milan on Wednesday. He comes to the team of the Italian vice-champion on a one-year loan after an unsuccessful season in Chelsea London, where he transferred from Inter a year ago.

The information was officially confirmed by the club by publishing a video showing Lukaku together with club president Steven Zhang. According to AFP, the “Nerazzurri” paid the Londoners eight million euros for the striker and another three million in bonus payments.

He went to Chelsea last summer for 115 million euros, which is a record amount in the history of “The Blues”. It was his second stint in the team, whose shirt he also wore between 2011 and 2014. However, he gradually lost his place in coach Thomas Tuchel’s starting line-up and scored only eight goals in 26 matches in the Premier League.

He spent two years at Milan, scoring 64 goals in 95 games as he was part of a side that won their first league title in more than a decade. On Wednesday, he already passed a medical examination and was welcomed by many fans in the city.

The financial injection helped Inter a lot during last year’s transfer, but it still has problems with a lack of money at the moment. For the purpose of savings, he is also negotiating the sale of Slovak defender Milan Škriniar, while Chelsea is among the candidates.
