World No. 7 Carlos Alcaraz has revealed he watched Big 3 videos before heading to Wimbledon. He hopes to one day become a great player on grass.
The 19-year-old Alcaraz has shown this year that he is capable of playing very well on clay and hard courts, as he won the Miami and Madrid Masters.
Alcaraz had to withdraw from the Queen’s tournament, but still played on grass before going to Wimbledon, as he played two exhibition matches at the Hurlingham Club. At Hurlingham, Alcaraz suffered back-to-back defeats to Frances Tiafoe and then to Casper Ruud.
“I try to watch the training sessions of the best players,” Alcaraz commented, as reported by Eurosport. “[Dan] Evans, I think he plays very well on grass.
I try to copy some things the best do. I always watch videos of Roger Federer, Djokovic, Rafa, Andy (Murray) too, while trying to copy their moves and stuff.
What is the most difficult I would say is the way of moving. For me, the most difficult thing is to move well on the grass. Well, I would say playing aggressive, going to the net, that’s the best part of moving my game from another surface to this one.”
The current world No. 1, Daniil Medvedev, is not present at Wimbledon this year because he was banned from the tournament because of his Russian nationality, something unprecedented in tennis and just as deplorable.
Reflecting on Wimbledon’s decision to turn away players from Russia and Belarus, Alcaraz said it was a shame some of the game’s biggest names from those various countries had to miss the tournament.

During a lengthy interview with Caminada, Roger Federer touched on a number of topics. “Absolutely. It’s incredibly inspiring when someone comes back after huge health issues,” Federer said.
“Rafa and I, we talk on the phone from time to time, we talk a lot. I knew he wasn’t doing very well, but when he did (win a Grand Slam title) anyway, I I was really happy for him.
The effort is immense. These days, even getting ready for a game takes several hours.” The Swiss maestro revealed that he would have loved to become a DJ, while describing in detail his love for music and for creating “good vibes”.
“I love music. I wake up with it and go to bed with relaxing sound,” said the Swiss champion. “At home, it’s me who creates good vibrations, in the apartment, during invitations, in the car, I want to let the children know who makes good music (laughs).
In fact, I would have liked to be a DJ. I would like to buy a DJ table one day for fun. I grew up during the techno era of the 90s, I also went to the street parade several times which was held on my birthday in the summer. It was awesome!”
