Zelensky Appreciates Jokowi, First Asian Leader to Visit Kyiv After Invasion

President Jokowi meets Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, at Maryinsky Palace, Kyiv, Ukraine. Zelensky said Jokowi was the first Asian leader to visit Kyiv since the war.

This was conveyed by Zelensky in his official Instagram account, Wednesday (29/6/2022). Zelensky said Ukraine appreciates the support of the Indonesian people and Jokowi during the war they are facing Ukraine.

“Ukraine really appreciates the support of the Indonesian people and the personal support of President Joko Widodo @jokowi during this war for the freedom and independence of our country,” Zelensky wrote.

Zelensky said he and Jokowi discussed a number of things. One of them is related to the reconstruction project after the war.

“During the talks, we discussed lifting Russia’s blockade of Ukrainian ports and resuming exports of agricultural products, as well as prospects for Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction,” he said.

“We agreed to launch a visa-free regime between our countries,” he continued.

Zelensky then expressed his gratitude to Jokowi. He said Jokowi was the first leader of an Asian country to visit Kyiv since the Ukraine-Russia war broke out.

“Thank you for the first visit by the President of Indonesia to Ukraine in the history of diplomatic relations. And the first visit by a leader of an Asian country to Kyiv since the start of the full-scale Russian war,” he added.
