Doctors recommend three ways that can be taken to get rid of bad cholesterol.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — High cholesterol occurs when there are too many fatty substances in the blood that can settle along the walls of blood vessels and narrow blood flow. When constriction occurs, the heart muscle has to work harder to make blood circulate throughout the body.
As a result, blood pressure tends to increase and sufferers are at high risk of experiencing heart disease. Not only that, high cholesterol also puts you at risk of heart attack or stroke.
Emergency specialist Carol DerSarkissian verified a quick way to get rid of harmful cholesterol in the body. First, physical activity or exercise for up to three hours per week is believed to reduce blood levels low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or bad cholesterol.
Meanwhile, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) is known as “good cholesterol”. HDL helps prevent disease because it contains a lot of protein and very little cholesterol.
Second, Dr. DerSarkissian also suggests eating fiber-rich foods, such as oatmeal, apples, prunes and nuts. All fiber-rich foods can help prevent the body from absorbing cholesterol.
