The two main companies of the E.ON group raised a net profit of one billion

Revenues of these two companies increased by almost seven percent year-on-year to 73.6 billion crowns. This follows from the annual reports of companies.

“Despite the effects of the covidu-19 pandemic, the result was positively affected mainly by higher margins from electricity and gas distribution,” said Zdeněk Bauer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EG.D.

“On the other hand, higher depreciation due to higher asset capitalization and growth in all key operating expenses had a negative effect,” he added.

Last year, EG.D had revenues from products and services of CZK 21.3 billion, an increase of 3.8 percent. Profit before tax increased by 6.5 percent to CZK 4.61 billion, profit after tax by 6.4 percent to CZK 3.79 billion.

The volume of electricity entering the distribution system reached 14.7 terawatt hours (TWh), up 0.7 TWh year-on-year. In the gas distribution system it was 3.7 TWh of natural gas, 0.2 TWh more than the year before.

According to the report, EG.D faced the effects of a pandemic and also the consequences of the June tornado in southern Moravia, which destroyed almost 38 kilometers of very high, high and outdoor low-voltage lines in the Hodonín and Břeclav districts.

75,000 households temporarily did not have electricity.

At the end of 2021, after the collapse of Bohemia Energy and other suppliers, almost 200,000 customer contracts passed under EG.D as the supplier of last resort.

“The effects of this regime measure are noticeable at the beginning of this year. Despite the above-mentioned challenges, we managed to meet the planned economic results, “said Bauer.

The company employed 1811 people at the end of last year.

Last year, E.ON Energie’s sales of products, services and goods increased by 2.8 percent to CZK 52.3 billion. Profit before tax increased by 55.4 percent to 2.82 billion, profit after tax by 56 percent to 2.28 billion.

The company with about 260 employees sold 15 TWh of electricity last year, of which 9.46 TWh was for end customers. In 2021, it supplied 9.13 TWh of natural gas.

The Czech energy group E.ON has about 3,500 employees. Through its 66,000-kilometer distribution network, it supplies electricity to 1.1 million customers, mainly from southern Bohemia, Vysočina and southern Moravia.

Its market share is about 21 percent. It has a network of more than 4,000 kilometers long in gas distribution, supplies 110,000 consumption points and its share of the gas market in the Czech Republic is about 10.5 percent.
