Happy birthday to one of the best-selling smartphones of all time.
It was fifteen years ago, to the day. Six months after a presentation with great fanfare (which you can find ici) during MacWorld 2007, the iPhone 2G landed on the shelves of Apple Stores and American electronics stores. Two models, one of 4 GB sold for $499 and a second of 8 GB priced at $599, which will be very quickly torn off like hotcakes.
The rest, we know, are millions of smartphones sold by the firm, with very long lines in front of the Apple Stores from the first hours of dawn. Fifteen generations later, the excitement is not as important in front of physical stores, but the devices are still selling as well.
A device which, when it was released, completely changed the world of wireless communication. The first real popular smartphone, it combined audio playback, video watching, cell calls and web browsing. A combo of iPod, Mac and cell phone. These are true pocket-sized laptops today, and we’re looking forward to the next iPhone 14!
