In an interview with the Russian platform ‘RBC Sport’, Masepin explains the reason for his lawsuit: “When the contract was terminated, Haas had a salary arrears with me for 2022. And they still haven’t paid it,” said the 23-year-old .
“According to my information, Formula 1 Rosgonki paid money for the canceled Russian Grand Prix and thus set an example of etiquette,” he draws the comparison and emphasizes: “There are business relationships that you can’t ignore, that’s wrong. Unfortunately, not everyone is guided by this.”
Masepin had been released just weeks before the start of the season. Haas brought back his previous driver Kevin Magnussen to permanently replace Masepin.
The team also canceled the sponsorship deal with his father’s company, Uralkali. In view of the severe economic sanctions imposed on Russian companies, they wanted to end all relationships with the driver and sponsor.
But for Masepin, the Haas chapter is not over yet: “I’m just talking about the fact that the contractual obligations were not met. You also have to understand that we had two independent contracts,” explains the Russian.
“And breaking the agreement with the title sponsor didn’t have a direct impact on my future with the team. So they made two separate decisions. I didn’t see my money so we’re going to court.”
