The NJ Transit agency is gearing up for the 4th of July celebration at Jersey City’s traditional fireworks festival at Exchange Place so visitors can attend this event that will also feature live music.
For this reason, NJ Transit will adjust Hudson-Bergen Line light rail service beginning at 10:00 am on Monday, July 4 to provide safety for riders around Exchange Place due to expected large crowds. .
On this day the line will adjust the routes that normally pass through and serve Exchange Place ending one stop before Exchange Place station. That is, at the request of public security officials, starting at 10:00 am, light rail will end at stations Essex Street y Harborside.
IMPORTANT NOTE: No beverages of any kind, in any type of container, open or closed, will be permitted on board the train/bus/light rail. This policy will be strictly enforced.
NORTHBOUND:
- All northbound service from 8th Street o West Side Ave will end in Essex Street and will operate every 20 minutes from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and every 15 minutes from 5:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.
TO THE SOUTH:
- Southbound service from Arbor Avenue y Hoboken will terminate at Harborside and will operate every 20 minutes from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and every 15 minutes from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm
Shuttle service between Tonnelle Avenue and Hoboken will operate from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
DURING THIS TIME, ALL CUSTOMERS ARE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED TO USE THE PATH TO TRAVEL FROM HOBOKEN AND NEWPORT TO THE EXCHANGE PLACE.
Normal HBLR service will resume when the New Jersey Transit Police Department determines it is safe to reopen Exchange Place to light rail traffic.
Customers not planning to attend the festival are strongly advised not to travel towards Exchange Place as they will experience significant vehicle and pedestrian congestion.
