The National Basketball Association (NBA) team at the Utah Jazz has completed a search for a head coach, with William Hardy, an assistant to Boston’s Celtics, in the position, ESPN reports. Hardy, 34, has become the youngest coach in the NBA.
Interestingly, a total of 24 active NBA players are older than Hardy, while 11 are his peers. This has not prevented him from building a successful coaching career, currently becoming a “Jazz” co-driver, replacing Queen Snaider, who had previously resigned.
Hardy will sign a five-year contract with Jazz. He was one of four finalists to compete for another Celtics assistant, Joe Mazoule, Toronto Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin and Jazz assistant Alex Jensen. Hardy played for Imel Udok’s Celtics last season, which reached the NBA Finals.
Hardy began his professional career as a video coordinator for the Spurs of San Antonio, eventually becoming an assistant to the legendary Greg Popovich. For four years, he was also the head coach of the Spurs team in the NBA Summer League. He then went to Boston, but has now reached the peak of his career.
ESPN reports that there will be another newcomer to the Utah team management, namely former coach of Kristaps Porziņš, David Fizdale. However, after 18 years as a head coach and assistant, Physdale will become an assistant to general manager Justin Zenic.
Will Hardy and the Jazz are finalizing a five-year contract to make him the franchise’s next coach, sources tell ESPN. Hardy, 34, will be the youngest active coach in the NBA. https://t.co/uISUNbadGJ
