Investing 420,000 euros, the 1st studio of Latvian Radio has been modernized

An ambitious investment project has been completed – modernization of the Latvian Radio 1st sound recording studio.

More than 420,000 euros have been invested in the replacement of the studio’s mixer console and sound tract elements, as well as in the improvement of the director’s premises, providing a world-class technological solution for high-quality audio recording. This has been the largest investment project of Latvian Radio in several decades.

Māris Briežkalns, the owner of the Latvian Radio 1st studio, the head of the Sound Recording Department, said that this is the fourth console in his career. “It simply came to our notice then. The first major recordings will take place this week – on Friday we will write a drum solo album with “Riga Jazz Stage” winner Domo Branch from the United States, and on weekends – the soundtrack of a new project by composer Lolita Ritmane and director Daniel Kreicberg. “

The project was launched in the spring of 2021 to successively replace the almost 20-year-old analog studio mixer console D&R Octagon with the full-featured audio mixing system System-T S500. Its manufacturer is Solid State Logic (SSL), one of the world’s leading manufacturers of professional audio processing systems. As a result of the public procurement, the delivery, installation and configuration of modern digital equipment was performed by SIA “Audio AE”, which will also ensure the fulfillment of further maintenance and upkeep obligations for technical equipment.
