700 kids in 3v3 tournament | Amateurs / Youngsters

A total of 700 children born between 2013 and 2015 in 128 teams took part in the 3-on-3 tournament on Hämmerlingstraße last Saturday, June 25th.

The tournament, organized jointly by the youth department of 1. FC Union Berlin and 3v3 Germany, has set a new world record for the largest 3v3 tournament. The game was played on a total of 15 football fields, which were completely framed with inflatable boards and each team had two small goals. A total of 4,800 goals were scored in the 440 games – almost eleven goals per game.

In this variant of the mini soccer game called Funino, the focus is clearly on having fun: it should be possible for all boys and girls to achieve as many ball contacts and goals as possible. There are three active players on the field per team, two substitutes are also allowed.

Jan Scharlowsky, head of sports promotion at 1. FC Union Berlin, was enthusiastic about the tournament: “It was a great and happy event with almost 130 teams and lots of football-loving children. Due to the all-round gangs, it was consistently very intense games with many goals. It It was really impressive how the kids got into it despite the hot temperatures and had a lot of fun.”
