2e edition in Tourcoing for Perche en Or! This event, which took place behind closed doors last year due to the health context, will this year welcome the general public to the Léo Lagrange room in Tourcoing (59). A stage of the Perche Elite Tour, which takes place in several cities in France, this event aims to introduce the widest possible audience to the discipline of pole vaulting. And already the presence of great athletes with impressive track records is announced. A unique competition in the region, supported by the Hauts-de-France Region.
A first day for schools
On Friday February 4, a big day dedicated to schoolchildren will be organized by Lille Métropole Athlétisme: “Our objective is to make them aware of the practice of athletics in general and more particularly of the discipline of pole vaulting, which is often misunderstood by young people because it is not practiced in schools., it is a complex discipline that is not accessible to everyone. Our ambition is to get young people into sport,” explains Adèle Debast, in charge of communication and events at Lille Métropole Athlétisme. About a hundred students will be welcomed. In the morning, primary school students who will be able to learn about these practices, while the he afternoon will be devoted to high school students.
The presence of the best athletes in the world
the 1time edition of this event in 2021 was a great success despite the health context. Broadcast live on social networks and on television, this competition recorded 3 million views during Renaud Lavillenie’s performance at 6.02 m! For this new edition, the Frenchman, Olympic champion in 2012, triple indoor world champion in 2012, 2016 and 2018, will still be present and promises us great sporting moments. Competitions will be held all day Saturday, with regional competitions in the morning and the Elite A competition at the end of the day. This year, 167 athletes of 16 nationalities will be there.

We wanted to create an event that gives back all its place to athletics and our goal is to make it grow from year to year.“
