Lukas Wernblom to SHL – leaves Mora for Malmö

There have been sensitive transitions when SHL clubs recruited late. Marcus Westfält’s transfer to Färjestad from Modo and Kalle Östman’s transfer to Leksand have been big snacks during the summer.

Now it’s time for the next signing that shakes.

According to SportExpressen’s information, Lukas Wernblom, most recently in Mora, where he had an agreement, is ready for Malmö, which will present the recruitment shortly.

– The club presented a role where I will get a great chance, says Lukas Wernblom, who, however, does not want to reveal that it is about Malmö.

Mora IK taken to bed

Mora IK has already announced that Wernblom is leaving.

– It is clear that it is tough but the system is as it is. We got a call yesterday that Lukas will play for an SHL club and were a bit taken aback. But of course we will replace Lukas with a really good hockey player, there is no talk about it, says the sports manager in Mora, Andreas Hägglund.

– But we know the conditions. Here and now, of course, it does not feel at all good that this rule exists, but we knew that it could happen, says Hägglund to SportExpressen.

Malmö confirms the recruitment

Half an hour after SportExpressen’s revelation, the Malmö Redhawks choose to confirm the signing in a press release.

– In Lukas we get a young and promising player who has shown proof that he is a top player in the Hockey Allsvenskan, where he was a producing forward during his time in Mora. I have had the opportunity to follow him for a long time and I also know him well after having had him as a player during my time in the U18 national team, says Malmö’s sports manager Björn Liljander.

Lukas Wernbloim has signed a two-year contract with Malmö.

The almost 22-year-old forward will come to Malmö to get to know the city and the club already this week.

– He is a skilled forward who also possesses a high level of competition and a bullshit that we are fond of. It is fun that he wants to come to us to continue his development in our environment and thus be able to grow into the SHL suit, says Björn Liljander.
