“Real New Yorkers have Covid”
Instead of being able to visit their families over Christmas, many New Yorkers are stuck in their apartments for the time being. According to their own statements, many of them became infected at Christmas parties, family reunions and also at SantaCon, the annual pub crawl where thousands of people in Santa Claus costumes parade through the streets. While the parade was canceled last year due to the pandemic, this year thousands of party-goers were drawn to bars and pubs.
Those who didn’t take part are happy: “If all of New York City got infected with Covid at SantaCon, but you were too lazy to buy a €5 hat on Amazon,” a TikToker posts smugly.
