Sex is an important part of marriage. There are so many benefits of sex, ranging from increasing intimacy in relationships to making the body more relaxed. But there is also the possibility of the emergence of diseases that can arise after sex.
Even though you and your husband don’t have sex with many people, there is still a risk of disease that can arise after having sex. The risk of disease that can arise after having sex is not always terrible like AIDS or venereal disease.
Some diseases that can arise after sex also seem mild but can interfere with daily activities. So, what are the diseases that can arise after having sex? Listen below, come on, Mother.
1. Amnesia
Although it is rare but can still be experienced by some women. Like the case of a woman in Washington DC memory loss or about 1 hour after having sex.
Doctors diagnosed him with transient global amnesia (TGA), sudden memory loss. It can affect between 23 and 32 people out of 100,000 annually in the United States.
Quote from Everyday Healththe incident was reported in Journal of Emergency Medicine. Researchers aren’t sure what causes TGA. A study published in Stroke found that patients with TGA tend to have a lack of valves in the jugular vein, which carries deoxygenated blood from the brain to the heart.
Sex may be a trigger but not the only factor. TGA can also be caused by other strenuous physical activities. Fortunately, people who experience this strange condition usually get their memories back within a few hours and that’s unlikely to happen again.
2. Headache
Headache is one of the diseases that can arise after having sex. According to National Headache Foundation (NHF), there are two types of headaches associated with sexual activity, especially during orgasm.
In the first type, sexual arousal causes muscle contractions in the head and neck that cause headaches. Most headaches after sex are most often associated with patients who are prone to migraines.
However, in some cases it can be a sign of a brain disorder or other disease. If you think you’ve had headaches after sex, see a doctor.
The second type of sex headache is known as an orgasmic headache. This is a very intense and severe vascular headache that usually occurs just before orgasm, according to the NHF.
Headaches can be a response to an increase in blood pressure and usually last a few minutes. It occurs more often in men than in women and usually affects those who are prone to migraines.
3. Depression
Another disease that can arise after having sex is depression. Even depression in women can appear after an amazing romance session.
In a small study published in International Journal of Sexual Health, a third of women say they feel depressed even after a very enjoyable sex session. Researchers call it postcoital dysphoria and it affects about 10% of women on a regular basis.
Post-sex depression is characterized by feelings of sadness, anxiety, irritability, or restlessness. If you often feel sad after sex, you may need to see a therapist.
Doctor Paula Bednarek, MD, MPH, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Oregon Health and Science University, Portland, said that these emotions could also be linked to feelings of unequal husbandry or other relationship problems.
