There are major protests throughout the United States after it was announced on Friday that the Supreme Court has ruled that the federal right to abortion should be removed.
The law known as “Roe mot Wade” has protected women’s right to self-determined abortion since the 1970s.
Now, several US states have chosen to restrict the right to abortion so much that in several states it is practically impossible to have an abortion.
This has set minds on fire all over the United States.
– You do not deserve to have sex with me
Several women are now speaking out to start a sex strike. That is, to refuse to have sex with someone. This applies to everything from husbands, boyfriends and random people.
– If you are a man who refuses to be sterilized, who is reversible, and you are not in the streets fighting for my rights, you do not deserve to have sex with me. Ambulance driver Brianna Campell said this at a demonstration in New York New York Post.
– Women’s lives and health in the United States are now in danger

– If we can not have safe sex, and know that we have a choice after that, why should we be expected to have sex? Ask Caroline Healey.
Also on social media, it boils over with anger. Several are speaking on Twitter to inform that they will participate in the strike, to show their opposition to the Supreme Court’s decision.
– Sex strike. Work strike. Expenditure strike, writes a user.
Sex strike. Work strike. Spending strike.
We’re not going to fuck you. We’re not doing your menial less-paid jobs. We’re not cleaning up your shit. We’re not buying ANYTHING in your stores.
You want to flex on women?
Okay motherfuckers. #GeneralStrikeNow

Although more people are now speaking out in favor of saying no to sex, many are afraid of the consequences for women. Many point out that women in the United States may now be more exposed to violence.
– Women who do not have sex to avoid getting pregnant will only be met with more violence and it is a scary thought, one writes.
Women trying to withhold sex to avoid pregnancy will just be met with more violence and thats a scary thought.

Strike before
In the past, too, American women have used sex as a tool in protests in order to retain their rights.
In 2019, the state of Georgia introduced a law that said that all abortions after a heartbeat can be heard in week six are prohibited. It also became clear that the authorities in Georgia could treat all miscarriages as murder, according to The Guardian.
The newspaper writes that the law called the “heartbeat bill” is misleading, because the heartbeat that is meant is not really a heartbeat, but cells that multiply into what eventually becomes a heart.
This led to large protests in the streets, and several even took to Twitter to protest. Among other things, Hollywood star Alyssa Milan called for a sex strike.
– Until women have legal control over their own bodies, we can not risk pregnancy. Join me by not having sex until we have control over our own bodies again, she wrote at the time.
Our reproductive rights are being erased.
Until women have legal control over our own bodies we just cannot risk pregnancy.
JOIN ME by not having sex until we get bodily autonomy back.

Voted against abortion
On May 3 this year, a document was leaked that made it clear that the Supreme Court could vote to abolish the right to abortion in the United States.
On Friday came the news that the members of the Supreme Court voted for just this. It is now up to each state to decide how liberal abortion law they want to have.
Several states already enacted local laws shortly after the document was leaked. Among other things, introduced Oklahoma a law that makes it illegal to have an abortion, unless it can be proven that the pregnancy is as a result of a rape or that the woman’s life is in danger.
It is now expected that as many as half of the US female population will no longer have the opportunity to perform self-determined abortion, according to the news agency AP.
