Music lovers are currently spoiled for choice, because there is a lot going on. While the range of concerts and culture on offer in the past summers was rather restrained due to Corona, this year for the first time in two years there will be a lot of concerts, performances and festivals.
It can go in all musical directions: Classic and operetta lovers will find a lot of offers as well as all those who are more into jazz, pop, rock or metal. Artists are dying to get back on stage and show off their skills. And of course, that enthusiasm will carry over to the audience. So nothing stands in the way of unforgettable concert nights – plan well and secure your tickets in good time!
Unforgotten melodies, a lot of passion, charm and wit – these are the ingredients of the operetta classic “Wiener Blut” by Johann Strauss. As part of the Lehar Festivals in Bad Ischl will premiere on July 9th.
For one evening, the audience dives into the confusion of Count Zedlau’s love life, laughs with the carousel owner Kagler, is amused by the turbulent relationship between the valet Josef and his Pepi. Despite all the confusion, there is a happy ending in the end. And of course the “Viennese blood” was to blame for all the confusion. Thomas Enzinger will stage this classic again, accompanied by the Franz Lehár Orchestra.
On July 16, “Frau Luna” celebrates its premiere in Bad Ischl: “Das ist die Berliner Luft” is just one of the hits of this revue operetta. Also hits like “Oh Theophil”, “Give me a little bit of love” or “Castles that lie in the moon” are known and loved by operetta fans.
After the success of the previous year, this Salzkammergut Open Air with the Bruckner Orchestra Linz this year on July 8th and 10th in the Gmundner Toscanapark. Chief conductor Markus Poschner and the Bruckner Orchestra will embark on a sound journey from the Salzkammergut into the world with the Polish world star Piotr Beczała and the Linz music theater soprano Erica Eloff. Unlike Richard Tauber, Piotr Beczała was not born in Linz, but he started his international career in Upper Austria at the Landestheater Linz. The program follows in the footsteps of Richard Tauber, leading to operetta melodies and arias. In addition, the orchestra offers a symphonic bouquet of flowers from Franz Schubert to Franz Lehár.
In his 28th season, that’s waiting Steyr Music Festival for the third time with a world premiere. After the jukebox musical “Musical Fever” and the new production of the musical classic “The Man from La Mancha”, this year, for the first time in a long time, there is no musical at the center of the festival summer, but an operetta, namely “Die Fledermaus – Reloaded in Janoska Style”. . A new version of dialogue, an interplay of roles and a refreshed, musical arrangement by the celebrated Janoska Ensemble – that’s what the audience can expect from July 21st to August 6th in the Steyrer Schlossgraben. Günther Groissböck and Gernot Kulis round off the festival program with concert and cabaret evenings.
It’s worth a little trip every summer. Under the open sky, the meadow under the Burg Clam every year to the open-air concert hall. Italo veteran Zucchero will start this year, Judas Priest will follow on July 23rd. A highlight of the concert summer is definitely the appearance of DJ Parov Stelar. The Upper Austrian, whose real name is Marcus Füreder, is stopping at the castle as part of his new Venom tour – one of the rare opportunities to experience the artist here. He usually travels the world or paints in his studio on Mallorca. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are coming on August 5th and one of the last at the Castle Summer is Hubert von Goisern on August 19th. The eleventh NYC Music Marathon Festival in Mattighofen will open on August 17th with the exhibition “architektur zeit raum 2010 bis 2020”, a panel discussion with illustrious guests and lots of music with Gernot Bernroider and musical guests from New York and Berlin. In the following days, Kai Strauss & the Electric Blues Allstars, one of the most successful European blues musicians, will be there at the Blues Power Night, while the Upper Austrian Jazz Orchestra will present its latest program with London composer Ed Puddick at the Big Band Night. The German singer-songwriter Stefanie Boltz and Christian Wegscheider present songs from the new album by “JazzBaby!” at the Jazz, Soul & Funk Night, before the international cast “Sweet Emma Band” with their front woman Chanda Rule complete this concert evening (www.nycmusikmarathon.com).
It’s always a very special festival in a very special environment. Every summer, Paul Zauner invites jazz fans from near and far to the Inntones Festival in Diersbach im Innkreis, this year from July 22nd to 24th. They jam, improvise and play music on the large square where the organizer lives. There are camping opportunities all around, and the festival is particularly popular with families because there is a creative children’s program on two days. As always, the musicians come from Germany and abroad, newcomers are just as much there as real stars of the jazz scene (www.inntoene.com).
