L’association Imagine for Margo of Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Yvelines) has just completed a successful collection.
During the 6e edition of Heart of Paris Rallyshe raised nearly €303,196.
This meeting brought together more than 250 drivers of sports and vintage cars at Dampierre-en-Yvelines castle.
The opportunity for drivers, donors, partners and sponsors to be very generous in order to accelerate the fight against cancer of the children.
“A real boost to our fight”
“For 6 years, the Rallye du Coeur de Paris has given a real boost to our fight. This superb sum will make it possible, this year, to finance 2 projects resulting from the call for projects evaluated by the scientific council of the French Childhood Cancers (SFCE) and well-being operations helping the little warriors to fight against the disease. »
Projects led by the Gustave Roussy and Curie institutes
The first project is called Sacha.
Driven by Gustave Roussy Institute – the leading center for the fight against cancer in Europe – this study aims to secure access to innovative molecules in oncology and hematology for children and adolescents.
“This unprecedented study in Europe makes it possible to collect data from children who received a drug outside of a clinical trial in order to better assess their effect and quickly determine its impact. Since its opening in March 2020, data from more than 200 children has been collected and analyzes are underway in order to quickly identify the effectiveness of the therapeutic approaches offered to children. »
The second project funded for this €300,000 focuses on retinoblastoma, a rare intraocular malignancy.
It affects young children and can affect one or both eyes.
“This project, led by the Institut Curie, aims to assess the toxicity of an intravitreal injection of carboplatin – a type of chemotherapy – on retinoblastoma. »
Finally, as Patricia Blanc points out, part of the sum will be used for various “well-being” projects such as the renovation of the external treatment room of the pediatric department of theMantes-la-Jolie hospital.
A fight of more than 10 years
Let’s remember that it is now more than 10 years since the Imagine for Margo association, named after a teenager who died of a tumor to the brain at the age of 14, struggles to raise awareness and collect donations to accelerate research against childhood cancer.
Since its creation in 2011 by the parents of Margoit has managed to raise more than 14 million euros to fund 35 cutting-edge research programs, enabling more than 3,000 children to benefit from innovative and personalized treatments in Europe.
