You probably already know that carbonated drinks are not good for your health at all. They can affect the health of your heart and teeth and can have a significant impact even on fertility. A new study suggests that carbonated drinks increase the risk of death from colorectal cancer.
In the study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition researchers at Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, along with other institutions, had under observation a group of over 120,000 participants for two studies. The researchers compared the incidence data colorectal cancer and death from this disease to take into account how many of them consume carbonated drinks and how much fructose they include in the diet.
Consumption of carbonated beverages and fructose has been associated with increased incidence and mortality of colorectal cancer, especially in the later stages of tumorigenesis. In other words, if you drink carbonated juices you run the risk of colon cancer and even death.
If you drank these drinks as a child, you should not worry. Instead, it is worrying if you have this habit as an adult. In addition, colorectal cancer is not the only type of cancer associated with carbonated beverages. Previous studies show that there is a major risk of liver cancer, pancreatic and endometrial cancer.
