In a press release, the Concarneau Hospital Defense Committee supports the mobilization of June 28 for the defense of public psychiatry. The members recall that “there too an explosion in the demand for care (particularly among young people), linked to anxieties, depressions and others generated by the health context (effects of covid and confinements, etc.), the economic crisis and the war in Europe, absolutely requires additional means”.
“Collapse is near”
For the committee, “we can only note and deplore a real collapse of the psychiatric care system: glaring lack of psychiatrists and nurses, closures of extra-hospital structures such as CMPs and day hospitals, intolerable increase in delays number of appointments and the start of treatment, reduction in intra-hospital admission capacities”.
The members ask “that they hear urgently, for the good of us all, their cry of alarm: ‘Never in its history, since the liberation, has psychiatry experienced such danger: the collapse is near ””.
