It is the third time in a year that the Liberal Democrats manage to take a ‘safe seat’ from the Tories, a sign on the wall for Johnson, because his traditional supporters are running away.
The loss in Wakefield is also painful. This was one of those Red Wall districts: traditional red strongholds in the center and north of England that Johnson so surprisingly won in 2019. Here he loses new voters that the Tories had just tapped.”
