This Friday, June 24, the 1st Great Book Auction will start in the Historic Center of Guadalajara. The Coordinator of Literature and Visual Arts of the Guadalajara Department of Culture, Dolores Garnica, indicated that books will be offered with discounts of 50 to 70 percent.
“It is an initiative of CANIEM, with Cultura Lectora AC and Cultura Guadalajara, to offer readers great discounts on classic books and new books. I think this is going to be a party and that it will be a very good opportunity for us readers”explained
The activity will take place at the Fray Antonio Alcalde Literary Walk, between Hidalgo Avenue and Independencia Street, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The municipal official announced that they will have the participation of more than 60 local, national, university, comic and graphic novel publishers.
The activity will be carried out within the framework of the activities of the Guadalajara program, World Book Capital, and will conclude on July 3.
The conference will include a literary program with forums and talks between authors and book professionals, such as Dante Medina, Óscar de la Borbolla and José Luis Trueba. Among the stellar events is the Literary Treasure Hunt, an activity that consists of locating special works and receiving the recommendation of must-see books at the fair.
Starting at 4:00 p.m., specialists will provide daily title recommendations at various stands; a stage will be installed in Plaza Guadalajara for artistic presentations in the afternoon.
