Indonesia now occupies the 155th position in the ranking FIFA latest, up from the previous position. This is inseparable from the success of the Indonesian National Team in Indonesia 2023 Asian Cup Qualification.
Previously, the Indonesian national team was ranked 159th as of March 31. That means Indonesia has moved up four ladders after undergoing the Asian Cup Qualifiers, according to the FIFA rankings released on Thursday (23/6/2022).
Meanwhile, during that period, the Indonesian national team won two victories by defeating Kuwait (1-0) and Nepal (7-0). One other qualifying match ended in a 0-1 defeat to Jordan.
The total points collected by Indonesia at this time is 1019.19. While in the previous ranking, Garuda still collected 1001.61. There is an addition of 17.58 points.
The increase in Indonesia’s ranking at the same time makes four countries evicted to the bottom. Those who fell in the rankings were Singapore (159) and Myanmar (158).
Overall, the Indonesian national team in the Shin Tae-yong era showed quite rapid development when referring to the FIFA rankings. Moreover, Garuda was even stranded in the 175th rank in September 2021.
The new ranking improvement occurred on October 12 after the Indonesian national team qualified from the Asian Cup playoffs. In total, Shin Tae-yong has shot the Indonesian national team 20 ranks, from 175th position to 155th.
While in the top position, Brazil is still perched in the top position followed by Belgium. The third position is now occupied by Argentina which shifts France.
