Last Monday, the Val d’Aran urban renewal project entered its active phase with the demolition of the footbridge. At the same time, a new office was inaugurated called “Employment at your doorstep”. Installed in the heart of this priority district of the city (opposite the citizen’s house), this third place, entirely dedicated to employment, is an initiative of the West Toulouse Business Club (CEO). The goal: to meet the inhabitants. Moreover, they had been invited by the social landlord, Altéal, to discover the place, during an open morning, the Friday before the official inauguration.
Jobs in all industries
The third place is aimed at all job seekers, including work-study candidates and adults eligible for social integration clauses. Éric Fitamant of the CEO specifies that: “the inhabitants of the district are concerned in the first place, but not only. Anyone looking for a job is welcome. And if the construction sector is already well represented there with the proximity to companies working on site, positions in other sectors of activity are also posted there.
Hotlines for employment actors
The 150 m2, allocated beforehand to a medical centre, have been renovated to offer a reception point with a large, convivial lounge, a meeting room, and two large offices devoted to the permanence provided by the CEO’s partners. Thus, the PLIE (Local plan for integration and employment), the SNC association (New solidarity in the face of unemployment), temporary work companies, Yes! and Manpower, and also La Passerelle 31 are present there in turn. All these employment players offer their ability to listen and their know-how in order to provide concrete solutions to those who are looking for a job or training. Venance, the host of “L’emploi à votre porte”, welcomes them from Monday to Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and Thursday afternoon from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
A place to help find work
“The western Toulouse business club is setting up in the heart of the Val d’Aran to promote the integration of people who are far from employment and who do not always dare to cross the doors of institutional structures” declared Karine Traval-Michelet, mayor of Colomiers, during the inauguration of the local “Employment at your door”.
Several sectors of activity are still having difficulty recruiting staff, in particular the building trades, health, IT, catering… The partner business leaders hope that this proximity to the inhabitants will make it possible to reverse the trend. “The job shortage is felt in the construction industry and elsewhere,” confirms Bernard Gatimel, president of the western Toulouse business club. “With Employment at your door we hope to change the situation”.
The inauguration of this new space took place in the presence of many representatives of various local and regional authorities, including the departmental council and the regional council, in the presence of Nabila Dibane, delegate of the prefect of Haute-Garonne.
