Nitrogen experts are also not happy with the map. “It is far too detailed,” says Professor of Environment and Sustainability Jan Willem Erisman of Leiden University. This could give the impression that the percentages are already fixed.

Professor Wim de Vries of Wageningen University calls the map inconvenient. Moreover, according to him, the map focuses too much on nitrogen alone, while future restrictive measures in the field of, for example, water quality and CO2 reduction should also be included.
