Yay Gamescom! Everyone is really really looking forward to it. After 2 years of nothing, nobody would like to stroll through the halls of the Koelnmesse again, where the sweat of thousands of gamers is splashing against the skirting boards. Well… everyone. So not PlayStation.
Sony has, according to the German games economy indicated that it is not coming to Cologne and with this it is going after Nintendo, Activision-Blizzard and Take-Two. According to Gamescom itself, it doesn’t matter because there are plenty of other parties. There are already 250 companies eager to attend, including Koch Media, THQ Nordic and Bandai Namco. Well what more could you want?
Well, they haven’t really given a reason. One dares to speculate here and there. Developers would no longer be so concerned with developing exhibition floor demos since the need for this has been absent for more than two years. And yes, if you don’t have a demo, what should you show? trailer? They don’t come to Gamescom for that. Unless it’s a Call of Duty trailer. I have literally seen people queuing for hours for that.
Anyway, do you know who does go to Gamescom? Gamersnet! At least that’s the idea. Unless there really aren’t any demos at all. We don’t come for trailers. Or yes, maybe. That depends on free food, drinks and the hospitality package.
