The gunfire continues in Donbass as Russia tries to surround the Severodonetsk district through Izjuma in the north and Popasni in the south, the statement said.
The ability of both sides to establish and deploy reserve units at the front seems to be becoming increasingly important as a result of the war.
Separately, the British intelligence service describes the situation with losses in the ranks of the self-proclaimed “Donetsk People’s Republic” (“DTR”).
The Russian authorities have not published data on the amount of military losses in Ukraine since March 25. However, on June 16, the pseudo-republic itself acknowledged that 2,128 soldiers had been killed and 8,897 wounded since the beginning of the year.
“The level of damage to the DTR is equivalent to about 55% of its original number, highlighting the extreme depletion of Russian and pro-Russian forces in the Donbass. There is a high probability that the DTR is equipped with outdated armaments and equipment,” intelligence said.
