Jakarta –
The Governor of West Java (Jabar) Ridwan Kamil was lined up to be the amirulhaj or the leader of this year’s hajj congregation. Ridwan Kamil will leave for the Holy Land in early July.
“I myself may become an amirulhaj. I will go to lead the West Java pilgrimage for 17,000. I will depart in early July,” said Ridwan Kamil at Gedung Sate as quoted from detikJabarWednesday (22/6/2022).
Ridwan Kamil admitted that his departure to the Holy Land or Makkah as amirulhaj this year was quite special. Ridwan Kamil explained that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had provided a budget or financing for Hajj to his family.
“As a guest, I should be the one. It turns out, the Saudi Kingdom was kind to my wife and Zara. We will go on a pilgrimage with the budget from the Saudi Kingdom,” said Kang Emil, Ridwan Kamil’s nickname.
Kang Emil explained that previously his departure to the Holy Land as an amirulhaj was budgeted for through official service. However, Kang Emil admitted to handing over the financing from the service to one of the hajj companions.
“I give it up. I give it to a hajj companion who hasn’t had a pilgrimage. It turns out that the Saudi Kingdom has given a replacement,” said Kang Emil.
