If the actor is best known for his role as Steve Rogers / Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), he made his debut in superhero films with The Fantastic Four from 2005 and the continuation of 2007, Fantastic Four and the Silver Surferfilms in which he played Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch.

Following Disney’s acquisition of Fox, a reboot of the Fantastic Four is being developed as part of the MCU, and Chris Evans would love to play Johnny again.

“God, wouldn’t that be great?” he told MTV News, continuing, “No, nobody ever came to me about it. Well, I don’t look exactly the same anymore. It was 15, almost 20 years ago. Oh! my God! I am old. But I really like this character.

Chris Evans explained that a return as Johnny Storm would be an “easier sell” than a return as Captain America, as he is happy with the latter’s story, which ended with Avengers: Endgamein 2019, while Johnny Storm did not have his moment of glory.

“I’d love it. It would actually be an easier sell, for me, than coming back as Cap. Cap is so precious to me. And you know, I almost don’t want to disrupt the great experience that has been. But Johnny Storm, I feel like he didn’t really have a chance. That was before Marvel really found its feet. So, I loved that role and… who knows?

At the end of 2020, it was announced that Jon Watts, the director of Spider-Man: No Way Home would realize the reboot of the Fantastic Four. He, however, dropped the project earlier this year. John Krasinski recently appeared as Reed Richards, in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessbut it remains to be confirmed that he will continue to portray the character in the reboot.
