14th in Ligue 1, the SCO of Angers is far from being a weak team. If the maintenance was a little too realistic objective, the Angevins have very unbalanced and totally unequal playing sectors…
Worn by Angelo Fulgini, Mohamed Ali-Cho, Batista Mendy, Thomas Mangani, Jimmy Cabot and especially by Sofiane Boufal, the SCO of Angers is a vicious team. Very easy to push, his character and his attack are however real poisons for their adversaries. Tombeur of Rennes and Lyon, the start of the Angevin season is ideal. But the defense, which had only conceded 2 goals in the first 5 games, sometimes suffered heavy corrections like against Nantes (4-1 loss), or against Marseille (loss 5-2). If the team was able to stay in the top flight, it’s good that the attack played a major role there…

A broken defense
Romain Thomas, Vincent Manceau and Ismaël Traoré have all been disappointed this season. Forming the 13th defense of the championshipthe disappointment exists if we carefully observe the decline of a nevertheless talented Angevin hinge in his last years. With 55 goals conceded this season and 58 last year, the defensive statistics can be disappointing because they are simply the 2 worst totals since the rise in 2015.
A unique attacking style
A shock quartet dominates the Angevin team. Indeed, Fulgini, Boufal, Cho and Bahoken perform, although they are only the 14th attack in the league with 44 goals. If this sector does not seem so impressive for Ligue 1, it is for the SCO since it appears to be the most prolific season since the rise in 2015. The 44-goal mark was also reached in the 2018-2019 season. Best Scoist element, Boufal transformed the Angevin attack in two seasons and was not necessarily very helped by the 7 goals compiled by Cho and Bahoken. The assists of Cabot and Fulgini are also important in attack, as well as the penalties of Mangani also have something to do with it.
Contradictory, the defense of the SCO falls from year to year, while the attack progresses from season to season. A surprising shift but which is obvious when you compare the offensive animation to the defensive saves. In the midst of a revolution, Angers will undergo and has already endured many departures… It remains to be seen whether this paradox will continue next year or will immediately cease…
