In the last nine weeks there has been a progressive increase in COVID cases in the country; however, hospitalizations practically did not increase and deaths occur in a “minimum amount”, reported the Undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell.
He explained that only 1% of beds with ventilators are occupied, 4% of general beds and on average five daily deaths are registered at the national level.
In the Health Pulse, in the morning conference, he explained that the BA4 and BA5 variants of COVID-19 predominate, so mild cases with less probability of lung damage are expected.
“The growth of the epidemic is slower than the fourth wave was and it is encouraging because it suggests that the immunity or protection that we all have, either because we suffered from COVID or because we were vaccinated, works and slows down the spread” , said.
