The verdict fell on Tuesday, Matthias Rochette was sentenced to 15 years in prison, with a 10-year security sentence.
He was tried at the Assises du Gard for the rape of a 12-year-old girl in Bessèges.

The psychiatric examination revealed the accused’s sexual preferences for “unsuitable partners”, such as a child, or under “abnormal” circumstances. In addition, the man suffers from an addiction to alcohol.
The young victim, who never spoke clearly about the facts, neither during the hearings with the investigators, nor before the judge, nor during the expert reports, was helped by the presence at the trial of Rancho, the Gard legal aid dog.
