Often while playing PUBG Mobile, players hear a number of unique terms used to communicate and strategize with teammates.

Glossary of terms in PUBG and their meaning

  • AFK (Away From Keyboard): a condition when the player is leaving the game, even though the game is online.
  • WWCD (Winner Winner Chicken Dinner): an expression that is enlivened by the last player or squad that managed to survive until the match session ended.
  • ADS (Aim Down the Sight): aim the weapon at a specific location.
  • Skins: cosmetics or costumes that can be used by characters.
  • Looting: the activity of collecting various types of items, such as armor, weapons, helmets, bullets, and so on.
  • Safe zone: a safe zone that players can explore.
  • Red zone: a dangerous area that is being bombarded with bombs from the air.
  • Blue zone: unsafe zone located outside of the safe zone. Players in the blue zone will receive continuous damage.
  • Air drop: a red box covered with a blue tarp. This box contains various types of rare items that can help players win the game.
  • HP (Hit Point): an indicator that states the player’s “life”. HP is marked with a green bar icon.

  • Flare gun: a special weapon that can only be fired into the sky to summon Air Drops.
  • Prone: prone position.
  • Gaming worms: the name used when there are several players who do the Prone position.
  • Cross the road: the condition when a player is watching the match from another person’s point of view.
  • Flanking: a strategy to attack the enemy from the front and rear.
  • Boosting: a process to increase armor durability using items such as energy drink, adrenaline syringe and painkiller.
  • Clutch: the term used when a player excels and manages to turn things around against multiple enemies.
  • Sandwich: a condition in which the player is surrounded by opponents from various directions.
  • Forting: the process carried out to protect against the opponent’s attack.
  • FPP (first-person perspective): settings for viewing characters from a third-person perspective.
  • TPP (third-person perspective): setting how to see the character from the first person point of view.
  • Recoil: a stomping motion that appears after the player fires a bullet.
  • Compound: structures and houses that can be used as a safe haven from the Red Zone or hide from opponents.
  • Frag: another term for “kill”.

  • Rush: a strategy to directly attack the opponent.
  • Push: slightly different from rush, push stays a little.
  • Retreat: strategy to retreat and leave the battle area.
  • Rotation: a strategy to approach the battle area by circling the area first.
  • Heal: activity when a player tries to recover HP by using a bandage, med kit, and first aid kit.
  • Knock out/down: condition when the player is dying and can no longer join.
  • Revive/Res: an attempt to save another player who is in a knock out/down condition.
  • Lower ground: the location used to escape from the location of the battle.
  • High ground: a position to spy on the enemy from a high angle, such as from rooftops and mountains.
  • Camper: a term given to a player who patiently waits for an enemy in a particular location.
