“Differences in immune system function between women and men could be an important driver of sex differences in Long COVID syndrome,” explained the researchers, quoted by India TV.
“Women promote more rapid and robust innate and adaptive immune responses, which may protect them from early and severe infection. However, these same differences may make women more susceptible to prolonged autoimmune-related diseases,” they added.
