Jakarta –
Some people are excited about the suggestion not to take the test COVID-19 when you have symptoms of cough and cold because it is believed that the results will be positive. In fact, it’s not like that.
This was explained by a pulmonary specialist, Erlina Burhan from the Friendship Hospital in Jakarta. According to Dr. Erlina, patients are actually recommended to do an early examination when new symptoms appear or are relatively mild.
This is to ensure that the symptoms of cough and cold are actually triggered by a COVID-19 infection or bacterial infection. “If it’s negative, for example, not because of COVID-19 but because of bacteria, the management will also be different,” he said in the IDI online webinar agenda, quoted Tuesday (21/6/2022).
Avoiding the COVID-19 test, he said, would only harm the patient’s condition. There is a possible risk of worsening symptoms, due to late treatment or patient care.
“And if it’s too late, you don’t want to be diagnosed, later it will get worse, the treatment will be more difficult,” explained Dr. Erlina detikHealth.
He reminded that COVID-19 patients who have severe symptoms are more likely to have long COVID-19 or complaints of prolonged symptoms. For example, fatigue or conditions that make you lack motivation and energy.
“According to the journal, severe illness is related to long COVID-19, I have long COVID-19 patients, the average illness is severe when treated and this is really difficult, the average symptom is fatigue, walking 200 meters is already congested,” continued dr. Erlina.
According to Dr. Erlina, you should get yourself checked if you have shown symptoms. So that it can be treated and treated quickly.
“Check symptoms when it just happened, so that it can be caught quickly, treated quickly and reduce the risk of long COVID-19,” he continued.
