After the heat records: The cooling is there, but no thunderstorms

When will it finally cool down? A question that everyone has probably asked themselves at least once in the last few days. After up to more than 37 degrees at the weekend, the temperatures on Monday fell significantly, but the forecast thunderstorms in Lower Franconia have so far largely failed to materialize. Gerhard Müller, weather consultant at the German Weather Service (DWD), explains whether there are still storms in the region and what the weather trend is towards midsummer and St. John’s bonfires. The highest temperature in Bavaria was measured in Kitzingen on Sunday at 37.4 degrees .
