On these motorways in NRW there are traffic jams at the start of the holiday season

At the start of the holidays in NRW there will be endless traffic jams on many motorways. Construction sites, closures and traffic make things particularly bad on some routes. The big overview.

When NRW starts the holidays on June 27th as the first federal state, it will be extremely crowded on the motorways. On the one hand, this is due to the holidaymakers, but on the other hand, it is also due to the many construction sites that were put on hold during the summer holidays because then the rush-hour traffic decreases.

The ADAC predicts the most traffic jams on the motorways in NRW during the summer holidays on Fridays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is the highest potential for congestion on the routes towards the North and Baltic Sea coasts, to the Netherlands and on the way to the south. Holidaymakers would have to expect delays, especially in the entire Ruhr area and in the greater Cologne area.

There are fewer traffic jams at these times

“Basically, if you are flexible, you should set off between Monday and Thursday outside of rush hour or use Sunday as the day of arrival. If it has to be Friday or Saturday, then it’s worth starting early in the morning or in the evening,” said ADAC traffic expert Roman Suthold.
