A taxi driver’s escape attempt ended in destruction after crashing into scaffolding and a bench on the Upper East Side in Manhattan.
The driver was fleeing a collision with another taxi in 79th Street y 5th Avenuepolice said.
It was only two blocks before witnesses said the taxi ended up on the sidewalk while speeding and crashed into Chase Bank in 3rd Avenue.
The other taxi involved in the earlier collision followed the driver and called 9-1-1, police said.
Both taxi drivers were taken to area hospitals to be treated for their injuries.
Police said the fleeing driver was taken to hospital with charges pending.
