Microsoft has suspended downloading Windows from Russian IP addresses

The American company is one of the companies that suspended its activities in Russia in March this year. On Saturday, the editors of the Russian server CNews, which focuses on information technology, became convinced of the problems with downloading operating systems from Russian IP addresses.

Microsoft has not yet officially commented on the download restrictions, but Russian users will receive an error message when trying to obtain Windows 10 and 11. Problems are also reported when downloading some other add-ons, such as the Media Creation Tool.

CNews editors rushed with an alternative solution for Russian users, recommending that they change their IP address abroad. However, it is also necessary to change the language of the website.

The Windows operating system is the most widely used in the world. It occupies about three quarters of the world market. The remaining quarter are users of Apple’s macOS operating system, and about two-and-a-half percent of users use Linux.
