Météo France has placed the Côte-d’Or on orange alert for the arrival of a particularly hot air mass from this Saturday, June 18 noon.
Updated: orange vigilance is extended at least until Sunday 4 p.m. This Saturday at 3 p.m., it was recorded at 34.9° in Dijon.
Heat peak remarkable both for its intensity and its precocity.
Current situation
After a generally cool night from Friday to Saturday, temperatures this Saturday afternoon are particularly high in the northeast. At 3 p.m., temperatures were between 33 and 39 degrees: 38.8°C in Auxerre (89), 36.4°C in Saint-Dizier (52), 36°C in Epinal (88) and Besançon (25), 35.9°C in Strasbourg (67), 35.5°C in Colmar (68), 34.9°C in Dijon (21), 34.8°C in Metz (57), 34, 5°C in Nancy (54) and Lons-Le-Saunier (39), and 33°C in Charleville-Mézières (08).
Planned development
Saturday marked the arrival of a particularly warm air mass from Spain and western France.
This beginning of the weekend marks the peak of the heat episode in most of the north-eastern departments. Maximum temperatures reach record levels for the month of June: 36 to 40 degrees are expected in the Grand-Est and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté regions.
The night from Saturday to Sunday will not allow effective cooling of homes since temperatures will often not drop below 20 degrees, or even locally 24 degrees in Burgundy-Franche-Comté and Lorraine.
On Sunday, temperatures will remain at very high levels. Only the departments of Marne and Ardennes will benefit from a less torrid air mass. Elsewhere in the northeast, temperatures will drop only a few degrees in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Lorraine, while the very high temperatures will persist or even increase in Alsace. Maximum temperatures are expected generally between 35 and 39 degrees.
In the evening of Sunday and in the night of Sunday to Monday, a stormy deterioration will lower the temperatures between western Burgundy, Champagne and western Lorraine. Further east, in Alsace, Franche-Comté and eastern Burgundy, minimum temperatures will remain above 20 degrees.
