The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer multimedia has undergone a huge intergenerational change. In the video, we found out if this is really a move for the better.

For many years, we have been highlighting BMW multimedia in videos and tests. We give them as an example from which a whole host of other carmakers could learn. Ergonomically designed, with classic buttons and buttons for setting the most important functions, a sophisticated rotary control on the center console – yet modern, nimble and intuitive. In my eyes, the best infotainment ever.

Some time ago, the people of Munich jumped on the popular wave of two screens connected on the dashboard into one whole. It’s a solution similar to what we’ve known from modern Mercedes for some time, but here the solution is a bit more likeable to me because the driver can see the center screen better. This innovation has appeared in electrical, for example BMW i4leaving the iDrive rotary control.
Subsequently, I had the opportunity to sit in a new generation BMW 2 Series Active TourerAnd that was just a culture shock. They took my beloved multimedia environment in Munich, threw it in a container, and began to create family “two” infotainment on a clean sheet of paper. No rotary knob, minimum buttons… and a completely different entertainment environment.

Is it really a step forward? I’ll leave that to each of you. We tapped Infotainment in detail in the latest video. I will be happy if you leave me your opinion in the discussion. But beware, BMW announces that it thinks about multimedia separately for each model. This does not mean that such an environment will soon appear in all other models. So let’s be surprised what the next “five” and the like will come up with!
