opening of the Levée Saint-Nicolas route in Hyères

The locality of Hyères (Var) has a new path which allows you to discover the Espace Nature des Vieux Salins.

On Thursday May 19, 2022, Jean-Pierre Giran, the mayor of Hyères (Var), inaugurated the new Levée de Saint-Nicolas trail in the company of Isabelle Montfort, the president of the Port-Cros national park, and representatives of the Conservatoire du littoral. Developments have been made on this gentle 1,200-metre route which crosses the Espace Nature des Vieux Salins. They include a new section of 700 meters, an entertainment area and new observation spots, intended to inform visitors about the flora, fauna, water management and the history of the sites. Educational and artistic exhibitions will complement these facilities.

The Levée de Saint-Nicolas trail allows you to discover, on foot or by bike, a site that is home to more than 300 species of birds and 300 varieties of plants. Its extension, carried by the department of Var and the municipality of Hyères, has also made it possible to recreate the historic connection between the village of Les Salins and Mauvanne.
