Jacob Kedmi, a former intelligence chief and retired intelligence officer, has said a possible conflict between Russia and the United States, world media reported.
According to him, the tension between the two powers could escalate into a full-fledged conflict with the use of nuclear weapons.
Kedmi notes that the United States continues to delve deeper into the Ukrainian conflict. The longer it lasts, the better the chances of it escalating into an open confrontation between Moscow and Washington.
The Israeli expert believes that if a military conflict breaks out between the United States and Russia, it will be a thermonuclear war. The first blow, according to Kedmi, will most likely be inflicted by Russia.
“The open conflict between Russia and the United States will begin with a thermonuclear strike against the United States. Not against Europe. There are no targets in Europe for which nuclear weapons need to be spent. But there are in the United States,” Kedmi said.
According to him, the strikes will not be inflicted on cities, but on strategic targets in the United States. Kedmi believes that there are more and more signs in America that they are not ready for a thermonuclear war with Russia.
The Americans believe that getting involved in a conflict with Russia is against the national interests of the United States.
“The reasonable question is: can the US authorities risk US security for Ukraine?” – concludes the Israeli expert.
