Kaiser, a member of the largest hip-hop association in Latvia, Kreisais Krasts, rapper and beekeeper, has released his debut solo album, the presentation of which will take place on June 18 in the “Hangara” quarter of Tallinn Street. Kaiser will be joined on stage by his old members of rap fights, including the Left Bank and Prospects, as well as special guests.
Until now, Kaiser has participated in various projects and numerous collaborations with other hip-hop musicians, as well as music production and studio recordings – since 2005. “I have been building myself in hip-hop for 15 years.
All this time he has wandered through the jungle of music and life and gained experience, fighting demons along the way, his ego and weaknesses, to finally climb a tree and get a banana.
My goal was to develop myself to such a level that I could do everything related to creating songs from a to z myself. I have not yet known whether I have come to my trophy – to be at peace with myself – but I have every opportunity to do so. In the album, I take the listener through my jungle, and maybe someone will hear the places there, ”says Kaiser.
The album includes eight songs from 2019 to 2022, but, for example, “Willpower” and “On the Line” were written only a week before the album was released. The album was recorded and post-edited by Kaiser himself. The design of the cover uses a reference to the “Left Bank” video “One Hundred”, artist – Katrīna Megija Deičmane.
PAR. If at first Kaiser’s masterpiece seems to be an ordinary album, which could be a minus rather than a plus sign, then after repeated listening it still catches on. First of all, it can be said about the stylish single “Lido”, a very interesting piece is “Willpower”, but the viewer’s favorite is the song “Waze”. The texts are definitely worth listening to, everyone will find something suitable for them. “What am I doing wrong / Nobody will tell me that either / One says – here on the right / The other says – here on the left / I went in both directions again songs “Waze”) – good idea! “Left Bank” – this is quality, this is also confirmed by Kaiser.
AGAINST. I wonder how hip-hop fans can navigate this huge Latvian rap offer… The song “On the Line” does not seem to be a successful choice for the introduction of the album, there is another piece (“My Way” and “Plus”) that seems doubtful and without which in this album could also do without.
