Police started to investigate who took the photo Borobudur temple stupa similar to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). The police are currently checking the identity of the photo maker.
“Profiling by cyber,” said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo when asked for confirmation, Tuesday (14/6/2022).
Dedi has not explained the details of the initial suspicion of who made the photo. He said an investigation was underway.
“It’s being investigated,” he said.
Dedi reminded all parties to be wise in using social media. He said digital traces could be used as evidence in legal proceedings.
“Digital traces can be used as evidence in the legal process as stipulated in the ITE Law,” said Dedi.
Previously, member of the Indonesian Parliament from the PKB faction, Daniel Johan, who is also a Buddhist, highlighted the viral photo Borobudur temple stupa edited to look like President Jokowi’s face. Daniel was furious and thought it was an insult to a religious symbol.
“There must be action and legal proceedings for insulting a religious symbol, namely the Buddha image, whether it was edited by whom,” Daniel told reporters, Tuesday (14/6).
Daniel encourages the police cyber team to track down the photo editor Borobudur temple stupa that. Daniel emphasizes the sacred Buddha image and is sanctified by Buddhists.
“All that remains is that the cyber team of the National Police must ensure and track down the editors. Of course it is very unethical to publish this because the Buddha image is sacred and sanctified by the people,” said the Deputy Secretary General of the PKB.
“We ask the Police to firmly investigate thoroughly,” he added.
