KOMPAS.com – A number of mobile phones marketed in Indonesia are now equipped with technology that can “add” capacity RAM. This technology comes with different feature names for each mobile phone vendor.
Samsung, for example, calls this feature by the name RAM More. Then there is Oppo who named the feature as Memory Expansion, and Vivo with Extended RAM.
Although the names are different, the main function of this feature is actually exactly the same, namely to reduce RAM performance by “borrowing” a little storage media capacity. (storage) to be used as RAM memory.
Later, the amount storage This “borrowed” will be used as RAM, so that the total RAM in the cellphone seems to be able to exceed its original capacity, for example from 8 GB to 13 GB (an additional 5 GB from storage).

So, how exactly does the Extended RAM feature and the like work? Does this feature really increase the amount of RAM and can improve phone performance?
To find out the answer, it’s good to know what RAM means and how it works in a computer smartphone.
RAM and how it works
RAM stands for Random Access Memory, a component in electronic devices, in this case smartphone whose function is similar to storage.
It’s just that, RAM actually has a speed that is more “speeding” than storage, so this component is suitable for running, processing, or launching an application quickly.
Before being stored in RAM, various system files and applications on the phone itself, including operating system (OS) files, are stored on the device’s internal memory.
When they are needed, these files or applications will then be loaded into RAM so that the phone can run it smoothly.

So, when a file or application is no longer used, the RAM will automatically delete it, so that the portion of RAM that was used can be reused by other applications.
All information stored in RAM will also usually be lost or deleted automatically, if the phone is switched on.restart.
