When the compact BMW got rid of the classic concept with a longitudinal engine and rear-wheel drive, everyone wondered if the first sharp BMW M2 would not also be the last true compact coupe from the Motorsport division. However, BMW has borrowed the basics from the larger “three” for the new generation of the 2 Series, so there is nothing to stop the full-fledged successor to the M2.

The recipe for the car, which will be introduced in October this year and will go on sale in April next year, remains the same. Despite the camouflage, the body is clearly extended, there are large wheels, a tear-off edge on the boot lid and four exhaust tailpipes.
–
Under the hood is again an in-line six-cylinder from the M3 and M4 models located longitudinally, driving the rear wheels. BMW has also confirmed that there will be a choice of automatic and manual transmissions.

Inside, you can also see optional shell seats or a different M version.
–
The specific numbers remain a mystery, BMW has so far stated that the new M2 will achieve similar performance as the tuned version of the M2 CS of the latest generation. It offered an output of 331 kW, ie 450 hp.
