Erling Haaland signed a contract with coach Pep Guardiola’s team until 2027. City announced this on Monday. The 21-year-old Norwegian was able to leave Borussia Dortmund for the fixed transfer fee of 75 million euros. The two clubs had already agreed on a transfer a month ago.
“I want to score goals, win trophies and improve as a footballer. I’m confident I can do it here. It’s a great move for me. I can’t wait to start preparing,” said Haaland, his father Alf-Inge also played for City from 2000 to 2003.
Erling Haaland has probably always been a fan of the Citizens for this reason – and that is also the explanation for the photo that caused astonishment because it shows the Norwegian in a wide-legged pose in his new employer’s dress – but see for yourself:
The Norwegian national striker switched from Red Bull Salzburg to BVB in January 2020. In 89 games, Haaland scored 86 goals for the German Bundesliga side and won the DFB Cup with the Black and Yellows in 2021. Several top clubs had advertised for Haaland. He admires City’s football style, said Haaland. “It’s exciting and they create a lot of chances, which is perfect for a player like me.”
